Do boundaries and rules change during the summer?
Jun 12th, 2009, 12:30pm

Parents:

Summer time often brings a challenge to parents.  Schools are not helping pick up the slack on supervising our kids and, sometimes, the arrangement we've had for after school doesn't expand to cover the entire day during the summer.

So what are some ideas that parents have to manage their own time as well as that of their youth during the summer when parents still have their jobs and kids have their activities and a lot of free time to fill? Is the answer to give kids more responsibility, or just let have the summer "off"?

Do curfew and bed times change?  If so, will it be hard to make the adjustment when school starts again in August?  How do you help make that transition smoother?

We'd love to hear your answers, suggestions and any other comments on the topic you'd like to make.
